2. We match you with a wonderful teacher and email your class schedule, placed short-term courtesy hold. Schedules are mailed by May 15 if registering before, or within 3 business days if registering after May 15.
3. You return payment and signed agreements before the hold expires.

I submitted my Registration Form. What happens next? 

First, we send you a custom tuition estimate based on your personalized program so you can budget and plan. You should receive your tuition estimate within 3 days of submitting your Registration Form.

Next, your schedule of classes will arrive by May 15 if registering before then, or within 3 business days if registering after May 15. Your schedule is placed on a short-term courtesy hold, pending receipt of payment and signed documents.

We offer continuous enrollment with “anytime start dates”. You pick your start date. No sign-up deadlines!

When do classes meet?

We run both morning and afternoon sessions.  Typically, classes meet two hours per day. You indicate your scheduling preferences on your Registration Form, and we do our best to accommodate them when preparing your class schedule.

What if I don't like my class times? 

We make every effort to accommodate the scheduling preferences you list on your Registration Form. If you cannot attend at your assigned class time, we will do our best to give you a new class schedule, but schedule changes may delay your start date.

Do I really get to go at my own pace? 

Yes. Some people need more time to strengthen their fundamentals before moving on. Others are ready to accelerate. At Lydian the pace is tuned for your success.

I like that I can go at my pace, but when will I be done?

In our Mastery Learning system, students finish the course when they complete all course requirements; There are no “seat time” requirements. Completion is highly dependent on pre-requisite knowledge, student effort, and attendance. We update student progress online every day so you can estimate your completion date.

For most subjects, students who are well prepared and put forth good effort can complete one semester in about 3-4 weeks.

Why can't you tell me exactly when I will finish? 

Most people choose Lydian because of our Mastery Learning system, which offers many benefits over the "one-size-fits-all" pace of a classroom. In a classroom, when the train leaves the station, you only have a few chances to hop on, and if you get behind, rest of the semester can be very painful. Or maybe you are one of those people who grasps concepts quickly, and can demonstrate mastery without all the busy work. In the mastery learning system you develop a solid understanding - progressing at YOUR pace - before moving on. Mastery learning is designed so you really learn, and end up with the grades to prove it.

What's to keep a student from taking forever? With our sophisticated monitoring system we constantly review the progress of every student in every class to make sure they are finishing their courses within reason, based on many years of historical averages.

What courses can I take? 

We offer all courses, one or both semesters.  See the course list on the Registration Form for details.

Can I take both semesters? 

Yes.  You can take the first semester, the second semester, or both. You can take as many courses or semesters as your schedule allows. If you run out of time in the summer, you can always continue in the school year.

Is there homework? 

Yes. The more you do, the faster you progress through the course. Consider supplementing with On Track to reduce your tuition by finishing faster.

What if I don't like to do homework? 

Enroll in On Track to take the "home" out of homework. Supplement your one-to-one instruction with On Track supervised study time to finish faster, reduce tuition, and take a summer vacation!

What is the tuition? 

Individualized instruction means customized tuition based on how long it takes you to finish your courses. Students repeating a course may move faster, students with gaps may need extra time to finally master the material. Feel free to call our office for more information about your tuition.

Is tuition refundable? 

Yes - any unused tuition in our one-to-one program is refundable.

What if I need to be absent? 

With advance notice, you can be absent without being charged for the session. As part of the registration process you will be asked to review and sign our Enrollment Agreement, which provides further details about absences and cancellations.
