Graduate From Lydian Academy

Students looking for a change of pace from the large, comprehensive high school enroll at Lydian to earn their high school diploma. Lydian is fully-accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Lydian graduation requirements exceed those specified by the California Department of Education. About 85% of Lydian graduates attend college or university after high school.

Mastery Learning Works!

Lydian emphasizes what students learn rather than grades. Our results show that when students master content, they subsequently perform well on standardized, norm-referenced measures. Students who receive credits from Lydian are those who engage with full effort to complete and master all course requirements.

Studying

Lydian students build a solid academic foundation by demonstrating knowledge at each level before moving on to the next topic. Our mastery performance assessments allow for learning and revision until performance standards are met.

A Day At Lydian

Students meet in individualized sessions, one hour per day for each subject. For example, if you are enrolled in five courses you will have five hours of instruction each day. Computer

We make every effort to offer instruction hours according to your preferences. For example, students who perform better later in the day can request a later start time.

Lydian courses are based on state standards and consist of the same assignments, exercises, and assessments found in the curriculum of a comprehensive high school. Students move through the curriculum at their pace and complete a course when they have finished all the assignments at the required proficiency levels (usually 90% or higher).

The Lydian Curriculum

The Lydian course list includes UC-approved college prep and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as general
education courses, and a modified program for students with learning disabilities. Our curriculum is designed to serve a broad range of students with course delivery tailored to student strengths and interests.

Learning Responsibility

"I gained a new perspective on how important it is to vote, and how important it is to know what you're voting on."
